Government has welcome NAPSA on-line,  eNAPSA  platform to help the authority overcome some of its barriers in enforcing compliance, says labour minister Joyce Simukoko.

Ms Simukoko said apart from that eNAPSA would extend coverage to more people.

Speaking during the official launch of eNAPSA in Lusaka yesterday, Ms Simukoko since Zambia got independence one million members have been registered countrywide against the potential coverage of about 5.8 million.

She said government was interested in the welfare of the people of Zambia through the provision of social security, hence the mandate being carried by NAPSA was therefore very important and in line with government’s commitment of uplifting the lives of Zambians.

Ms Simukoko said eNAPSA will definitely go a long way in making social security accessible to the masses, further implored the people entrusted with the responsibility and privilege of implementing social security policies and managing social security institutions and not to misuse or abuse the privilege.

“The current coverage is extremely low and sad. We have a lot of work to do because social security is not a privilege but a basic human right therefore it needs to be accessible to all that are eligible,” said Ms Simukoko.

Meanwhile, NAPSA director general Yollard Kachinda said the eNAPSA online platform was meant for submission of returns and the flagging off of the extension of coverage to the informal sector.

He said the e- NAPSA platform has been implemented to improve management of contribution benefits information and to promote effective customer services in line with customer service charter.

Mr Kachinda said NAPSA had noted the ever changing business and social trends in the society with a lot of activities and businesses being driven anchored by information and communication technology (ITC).
