I am still Power Dynamos player and do not have any intentions of moving to Zanaco, says international midfielder Fwayo Tembo.
Tembo, in an interview yesterday, rubbished reports that he was switching to CAF Champions League representatives Zanaco.
He said his two-year contract with the Kitwe giants will end in 2018.
“I am here, I am training with the team and still a Power player. I have a contract with Power until 2018, so I am not going anywhere. Those were just stories about me going to Zanaco,” he said.
Tembo said his target was to assist the team claim the 2017 Super League title.
“I am doing well and determined to aid the team to the 2017 title and enter the CAF Champions’ League. 2016 was a tricky season but I believe the team will deliver this season,” he said.
Fwayo in April, 2016, signed a two-year contract with Power
Fwayo was a free agent after parting ways with Romanian Club FC Astra with whom he had a difficult relationship over the last three years that saw him walk out on the club in August, 2016.
Meanwhile, striker Aubrey Funga is rumoured to be planning to to ditch Zanaco. Inside sources revealed that Funga attended trials at Ajax Cape Town of South Africa.
But Zanaco is also in discussions to sign Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) defenders Didi Kitimba and Ikamba Ngobila.
Zanaco will begin their 2017 CAF Champions League campaign with a preliminary round date against APR of Rwanda next month.
The Zambian league champions will host APR in the first leg on February 11 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka and play the return leg in Kigali on February 18 to decide who goes through to the pre-group stage in March.
Should Zanaco advance to the pre-group stage, they will face the George Lwandamina tutored side Young Africans of Tanzania during the weekend of March 11.
