CHISHIMBA Kambwili has accused the Daily Nation of propagating hate messages against him in what he termed a scheme to destroy his reputation.

Mr Kambwili, who is Roan Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament, has, however, vowed that he would take legal action against the Daily Nation for allegedly publishing what he termed malicious stories meant to politically scandalise him.

Mr Kambwili has complained that the Daily Nation had for some time been publishing negative stories about him and declared that he would call for a press conference at which he would announce his decision to sue the Daily Nation for slander and defamation.

On Tuesday, the Daily Nation published a story headlined: ‘Miners desert Kambwili’ in which the newspaper reported that the Roan MP was deserted by miners and supporters after he launched a scathing attacks against Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda whom he accused of destroying the PF in the area.

Mr Kambwili was not happy that the newspaper published the story, claiming that the meeting he had called for farmers in Luanshya was well-attended and that no miner or any of his supporters abandoned the meeting.

He claimed that it was not true that he was deserted by his supporters, stating that each time he had called for a public meeting, the people of Mpatamatu turned out in large numbers because of the programmes he had initiated in the area.

Mr Kambwili accused the Daily Nation of publishing lies against him so that his political image could be damaged in the public eye. I told you that it was a lie that I had been deserted by miners or my supporters. No one walked out of the meeting. ZNBC and the Times of Zambia carried a good and correct version of what happened at the meeting. Yes, I complained about the Mayor (Nathan Chanda) and my complaint is genuine because the chap does not know how to work with people.

I said if the authorities are not going to take corrective measures, then the PF in Luanshya was headed for disaster.

But you and your Daily Nation chose to report lies that I was deserted. It is unfair and tomorrow (yesterday), I am calling for a press conference to announce my decision to take legal action against the Daily Nation,” Mr Kambwili threatened.

Mr Kambwili clarified that he did not call for elections in the PF declaring that the Daily Nation was reporting sh**t against him in most of its publications to destroy his reputation.

He claimed that had the people walked out on him at the meeting, The Mast Newspaper was going to report because according to him, the newspaper believed in reporting facts.

“This is too much and I do not know why you hate me so much. I have never called for elections in the PF. I have never said the PF should go for elections and you let Jean Kapata insult me that I am a rebel,” Mr Kambwili complained.
