PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday led a record-breaking crowd of over 60,000 soccer fans who filled up the National Heroes Stadium to cheer the Junior Chipolopolo Boys as they kicked off their Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations title chase against Guinea.

Soccer fans started trooping to the stadium as early as 07:00 hours and formed queues in readiness for the opening of the stadium and by 14:00 hours the 60,000 capacity stadium was fully packed with some soccer fans subjected to watching the game standing. A colourful opening ceremony characterised by dances from various groups and artistes took turns to mesmerise the crowd but it was Mozegator who stole the show with his ‘‘Bakalalila’’ song as fans went into a frenzy and sang along to the lyrics of the song. Despite the hype that was created by the previous performances, the theme song, which was the last to be sung, made little impact as JK and his colleagues moved around the stadium while singing the song. Speaking after the match, President Lungu said he was happy with the performance of the Junior Chipolopolo against Guinea.
