ALL those who are trying to frustrate President Edgar Lungu’s vision on the Copperbelt are my number one enemies and will be dealt with accordingly because we do not want to be derailed from delivering development to our people, Bowman Lusambo has vowed.
And Mr Lusambo, who is Copperbelt Minister together with his permanent secretary Rev. Howard Sikwela, Ndola Mayor Amon Chisenga and Ndola district commissioner George Chisulo and other officials on Friday, cleaned the Ndola Central Business District (CBD).
Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr Lusambo said President Lungu’s vision was to transform the lives of Zambians by rolling out development to all parts of the country.
Mr Lusambo stated that he did not expect anyone in the region to frustrate President Lungu’s efforts aimed at bettering the quality of life for the people in the province.
He said President Lungu means well for Zambians and that the vision he has should be given a full backing by all well-meaning citizens and warned that he would not sit idle and watch people working to undermine initiatives aimed at developing the country.
He said there was need for concerted efforts among all stakeholders in order to actualise the Patriotic Front (PF) government’s vision and ambition to develop the country and make it a better place for all to live in.
“I consider all those who want to undermine President Lungu’s vision to develop this country as number one enemies and being the senior-most in this province, I will not tolerate people interested in derailing development because our agenda as PF is to transform the lives of the people and that should also be realised on the Copperbelt.
“We want to work for the people and that means that our vision should be backed up by all. We need to work together and deliver to the people accordingly but if there are people who are doing things to the contrary on purpose, they want to undermine these efforts, they will not succeed because they will be dealt with accordingly,” Mr. Lusambo said.
And Mr. Lusambo on Saturday stunned people in Ndola when he and other officials from his office and the district cleaned the Ndola CBD to supplement an initiative by the Ndola Street Vendors and Marketeers Association to clean the city where they trade from.
Speaking after the exercise, Mr. Lusambo commended the Association for the initiative, saying Government was eager to work with people with progressive ideas.
“We are happy when we see people taking it upon themselves to work with Government. My office, the office of the PS, and the DC’s office are always open for people with developmental ideas. Please come forward and together, let us build this great province.
“Cleanliness is next to godliness. The rainy season is here, so we have to keep our surroundings clean, including our trading areas if we are to avoid cholera and other waterborne diseases,” he said.
