NORTH-WESTERN province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo has warned civil servants in the province against misuse of public resources.

Mr Mateyo said public resources should always be put to good use so that they served the intended purpose.

He warned that he would not entertain any kind of misuse of resources by any civil servant.

“I will not take it kindly from anyone who will be found trying to misuse public resources. They must be put to good use so that the intended purpose is realised,” he said.

The permanent secretary was speaking during the handover of two brand new vehicles to the Ministry of General Education in Mushindamo district and the Provincial Education Office.

He said Government has spent huge sums of money to procure the vehicles and therefore, there was need to put them to good use.

“So, misuse of these vehicles will result in heavy punishment because huge sums of money has been spent on these vehicles.

After all, they are not personal to holder vehicles,” he said.

And Mr Mateyo has reiterated Government’s commitment in taking development to every part of Zambia.

He said the Patriotic Front (PF) government under the able leadership of President Edgar Lungu was committed to deliver development even in areas where it did not receive enough votes during the August 11 general elections.

Meanwhile, Provincial Education Officer Steven Chishiko said the handing over of the vehicles to the Ministry will go a long way in alleviating the transport challenges the office faced.

“Government has embarked on so many projects especially in the newly created Mushindamo district,” he said.
