WE strongly commend government for not allowing fake prophets and other missionaries to enter Zambia to extort money from unsuspecting poor Zambians needing spiritual help, says Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) executive director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza.

In an interview with Daily Nation yesterday, Rev Mwanza said the fake men of God should not set their foot on Zambian soils because they were full of false and contradictory prophecies.

“It is for this reason that we strongly commend the government for not allowing these fake prophets and other missionaries entering Zambia to extort money from poor Zambians in need of spiritual help. They are full of false and fake prophecies”, he charged.

Rev Mwanza charged that recently a South African-based Malawian Bishop Bushiri had issued false and inconsistent prophecies about Zambia which the church did not agree with.

“I would also like to repeat what I said a few weeks ago that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri should not be allowed to set foot on Zambian soils for instilling fear in Zambians through his false and contradictory prophecies”, he said.

The clergyman has since cautioned Zambians to be wary of false prophets.

He warned especially women to be wary of people parading the country as “Men of God.”

He said the unbecoming behaviour of some clergymen could be attributed to the lack of proper theological training and proper understanding of ”the call into the ministry of God.

He has also warned Christians to take heed of false prophets so as not to fall victims to their antics.

His comments come in the wake of measures taken by government to refuse entry of Zimbabwean Prophet Uebert Angel who was reportedly charging  about K2,000 for those who wanted to attend his sermons.
