By SIMON MUNTEMBA

I WILL pick up from where I left and ensure Matero Constituency is developed further, Miles Sampa has said.

Mr Sampa, who is newly elected member of Parliament said he would concentrate on  finishing the developmental projects initiated by the Patriotic Front.

Speaking after being declared duly elected MP for Matero, Mr Sampa said his first priority was to ensure all the developmental projects were actualised in the constituency.

“First priority on my agenda is developing Matero. I want to ensure the projects that were initiated are finished,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Sampa described the just ended elections as violent.

He said the general elections were characterised by violence, to an extent that he was almost killed.

“They almost killed me as you can see from the wounds. But God is great, my life was spared. I thank my wife, mother, PF members and other family members for the support,” he said.

And ZANIS reports that the United Party for National Development (UPND) has scooped the Kabwata parliamentary seat and all five wards in the constituency.

UPND’s Levy Mkandawire polled 38, 665 votes out of the 76, 880 votes from 131 polling stations cast beating his closest rival Danny Yenga of the PF who got 31, 675 votes.

St. Patricks Totaling Centre Returning Officer, Betty Musenge declared Mr Mkandawire as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Kabwata constituency at 22.30 hours on Saturday.

And UPND have scooped all five wards in Kabwata constituency which include Kabwata, Chilenje, Kamwala, Kamulanga and Libala.
