JAPAN, ZAMBIA SEAL GRANT DEAL FOR MAHEBA

Zambian and Japanese governments have signed a US$461,581 project contract am at supporting Livelihood Activities through Agriculture in Maheba Local Integration Area.
The grant contract was signed by Japanese ambassador to Zambia Mizuuchi Ryuta and Ms. Kanematsu Yui the programme coordinator for AAR Japan.
Mr. Mizuuchi Ryuta says that AAR Japan has for a long time been actively engaged in supporting the vulnerable people in Zambia with particular focus on the integration of former refugees, maternal and child health in close cooperation with the Zambian Government and the local community.
And speaking at the same event, Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu who officiated on behalf of Vice President Mutale Nalumango, commended the Japanese government for supporting Zambia in times of need.
Mr.Mwiimbu said government was grateful to AAR Japan for the support they have given the people of Maheba through this project, particularly to the former refugees of Rwanda and Angolan origin.
Mr Mwiimbu said that the government of Zambia has been financially stressed hence they are not able to provide the requisite support to the needy in the areas which AAR Japan is operating from.
