ZAMTEL TO EXPAND CAPACITY

ZAMTEL will expand its network by adding capacity and building new sites to support the expected jump in mobile traffic volumes this year.

The telecom company was expected to complete the rolling out of new communication towers in 2022, Zamtel corporate communications manager Changwe Kabwe said in a statement.

“At the end of 2022, Zamtel will have modernised its mobile network with the full installation of a new Online Charging System which will give us more capacity for growth,” Mr. Kabwe said.

He said Zamtel intends to ramp up investments in new infrastructure to keep the customers connected especially in the rural areas and other highly underserved regions.

“We will continue to deploy reliable and high-speed networks to remote communities where there are lower population densities and a lack of existing infrastructure that has traditionally not been economically viable, leaving rural areas unconnected,” Mr Kabwe stated.

He indicated that said Zamtel would be growing its fourth generation (4G) footprint in 2022 and continue to pursue a “value-driven” strategy for all Zambians.

“Our customers can look forward to a number of new products and services which seek to meet the growing demand for data and communication services, for fixed and mobile, as well as prepaid and post-paid,” Mr. Kabwe said.

He pointed out that Zamtel was making good progress implementing its business model to become a “digital lifestyle company” and its vision of becoming a dominant digital solutions provider that powers the 4th Industrial revolution in Zambia and beyond.

“We are also planning some exciting and innovative product solutions that tap into customer needs and will be competitively priced. Another key priority for Zamtel will be our social impact programmes that bridge the digital divide and support communities,” Mr Kabwe said.
