‘BLACK TIGER’ GAME FOR EFC 93
By MICHAEL MIYOBA
Zambia’s Professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Robert the “Black Tiger” Simbowe, says he is ready for today’s EFC 93 Lightweight fight against Congolese fighter, Boule Godogo, at the EFC Performance Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Simbowe said he is not intimidated by the 19-year-old Godogo who is a Pro MMA Fighter ranked tenth in the Pro Men’s Lightweight in South Africa.
Simbowe said he had prepared adequately for Godogo who knocked out Masefi Ngoma in his last fight on November 6, last year. “I’m ready for the fight and I’m looking forward to seeing my opponent. I don’t think he is someone who scares me. He doesn’t scare me because I have really done a lot and I’m more excited to face someone stronger so that I can demonstrate my skills.
“The fact that it has been long since I fought has given me more time to prepare myself both mentally and physically and spiritually and I’m ready. Whatever will happen let it happen but I’m going for a win,” Simbowe said.
Both Simbowe and Godogo will use the featherweight division which is expected to be highly explosive to climb up the rankings.
Meanwhile, South African fighter Martin van Staden and Ziko Makengele from the DRC will face off in the main event of the evening which will be a scintillating title fight.
The main event promises to be an exciting title clash between one of the most successful and skillful veterans of the EFC against the most naturally-devastating athlete in recent divisional history.
The co-main event of the evening Igeu Kabesa, who is considered by many to be the best wrestler on the continent will look to make his return a memorable one against the ever-inspiring Ashley Calvert.
And Given Majuba is hoping to continue his momentum in the welterweight category with a win against HP van Staden, an athlete who is happy to stand and trade and is yet to see past the first round in his entire professional career.
The same division features Peace ’X’ Nguphane, hot off of a superb submission victory and seeking to continue building his EFC legacy, taking on the highly experienced Bruno The Major’ Mukulu.
