ROLE OF THE CHURCH
As the nation’s unifiers and peacemakers, the Church provides spiritual guidance and timely wise counsel to the Government and citizens.
It’s worth noting that the Church also complements the Government by implementing initiatives tailored to improve people’s welfare.
More so, given the country’s declaration as a Christian Nation, Government shares the Church’s values.
However, some clergy often take a partisan position when expressing their views on governance issues, a situation that dents their reputation and demeans their noble calling.
But we expect the clergy to rise above partisan politics by upholding their noble calling of providing spiritual guidance to the nation, and restraining themselves from being confrontational and provocative when expressing their views.
Further, we are confident that the Church will continue to follow our Lord Jesus Christ’s footsteps as the country’s unifiers and peacemakers.
Similarly, we expect Government to be accommodative when engaging with the clergy on governance issues.
Nevertheless, we are comforted by both Government and Church’s good gesture and willingness to engage and collaborate, in an effort to work together in all areas of human endeavour.
