AFTER over a month-long break, Premier Futsal League giants, Kitwe Bullets are set to regroup next Monday to begin preparations for the 2023-2024 Football Association of Zambia Premier Futsal League (FAZ/PFL) season.

Kitwe Bullets head gaffer Witson Nyirenda said they are determined to start preparations early for the new season expected to return between August and September this year.

Nyirenda who led his team to the finals of the 2022-2023 FAZ/PFL season where they lost to defending champions Lusaka Automotive, are determined to maintain their impressive form which saw them reach the finals last season.

“We are regrouping on Monday to begin our preparations for the new season. We hear that there will be a mini tournament before the league starts so we plan to regroup early for the season to be able to compete,” Nyirenda said.

Nyirenda noted that if confirmed, the mini futsal tournament would help clubs to prepare adequately for the new season.

“The Premier Futsal League is expected to return between August and September and he mini tournament if confirmed it will be able to help us prepare for the new season. It would help us asses the new and the old players as we decide the final teams for the league,” Nyirenda said.

“The mini futsal tournament would also help us assess our competition in terms of how ready they are for the new season,” he said.

Asked if Kitwe Bullets had made changes to the team that reached the finals last season Nyirenda said; “This season we plan to graduate some of the players from the academy. We plan to build a team consisting of both experience and new talent because as Bullets we always give chance to promising young talents.”
