Kwacha MUSIC Awards explained
By Lifestyle Reporter
A Seasoned broadcaster and SUN FM staffer Allan Mwale says criticism of the recently held Sun FM Kwacha Music Awards is appreciated saying it is never an easy task to host such an important event.
According to a statement on his official Face Book Page, Allan known to the entertainment world as Big Al, said going forward, artistes must utilise the radio platforms to promote their craft as the awards are purely radio based.
” The thing to note is the Kwacha MUSIC Awards commitee is comprised of Zambia association of musicians ZAM , The Corporate fratenity, Partner radio stations and other major industry players and Nominations come from partner radio stations countrywide,” he stated.
“Youtube or any other social media platforms are not part of our Criteria for nomination.
Secondly after partner radio stations Countrywide send in their nominations, the committee does a tally and picks the top seven nominees in each category and scrutinizes them into a final list of Nominees which are published. “
Allan stated that voting is then opened to the public and that the committee does not vote or influence voting in any way.
” It is purely a public vote. Nominated artists are free to push or campaign for votes until voting Closes,” he said, adding that the authentication and validation of votes is handed out to an independent auditing firm, which this year was MCA .
“After all this the Awards night is held. It is a stringent and thorough process. To all the Artistes and fans as we go to the 6th edition, utilise your local radio stations for promoting your craft… because that is where your nomination will come from,” he emphasised.
“After all is said and done, Kwacha MUSIC Awards are truely Zambian and are yours to proudly own and support. God bless the industry.”
