Police misconduct can affect governance of the country , says  Dr Sambo

THE brazen violation of human rights such as extra-judicial killings, arbitrary arrests, torture, cruel and degrading treatment of suspects being perpetrated by the Zambia Police has the potential to affect the good governance of the country, the Human Rights Commission (HRC) has said.

Dr Pamela Sambo, the Human Rights Commission chairperson says about 90 percent of the reports  the Commission has been receiving were to the effect that the Zambia Police Service has been engaged extra-judicial killings, torture, cruel, inhuman, degrading treatment and punishment of suspects, as well as other violations of human rights.
