Nakacinda jailed 18 months with hard labour

PATRIOTIC Front secretary general Raphael Nakacinda has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour by Lusaka magistrate Irene Wishimanga for claiming that President Hakainde Hichilema was summoning judges at his house to coerce them to frustrate the PF legal battles.
Nakacinda aged 43, of farm number 1794, Kafue district pleaded not guilty to defaming President Hichilema contrary to section 69 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia. When rendering judgement yesterday, Ms Wishimanga ruled that Nakacinda’s statement was a direct assault on the judiciary and he needed to be punished.
Magistrate Wishimanga said she is aware that the law of defamation was repealed but she would sentence the now convict for disrespecting the judiciary so as to deter would-be offenders CLICK TO READ MORE
