Chabinga claims death threats

ROBERT Chabinga who is embroiled in a tiff for power with Miles Sampa in the Patriotic Front (PF) has claimed that he has received death threats from some members of the former ruling party, who are unhappy with what is happening.
Mr Chabinga said in an interview that he was not intimidated with the death threats which he claimed came from some PF members.
He claims that he is not a weak leader and would not be deterred by death threats as he was going to die a natural death.
The controversial lawmaker also claimed that former President Edgar Lungu had Brian Mundubile and Dr Chitalu Chilufya as his preferred candidates who should have taken over the leadership of the PF.
And Mr Chabinga has said the newly launched Tonse Alliance is a group of politicians whose vision is only to take over the governance of the country.
“The Tonse Alliance is wasting its time by endorsing former President Lungu as their presidential candidate because he cannot win as he has lost popularity.
As the country’s only surviving former head of State, this would have been the best time for him to own up the mistakes in the energy sector which resulted in load shedding.
He should have been on television advising his successor on many issues affecting the nation,” Mr Chabinga said.
He said it was sad that Zambia had a lot of cowards who only believed in leaders who thrived on propaganda but the PF would not be sold to any highest bidder.
Mr Chabinga also said he would ensure that PF never participated in any by-election until its house was “in order.”
He warned the Tonse Alliance not to front PF members in any by-election.
