HH bemoans lack of communication on gov’t’s achievements

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has complained that his government has achieved so much in just three years but that the achievements are not being effectively communicated to Zambians through whose courtesy the UPND is in government.
President Hichilema has thence directed Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and other senior government officials to enhance communication of different developmental projects that the government has been implementing.
The head of State says the UPND government has been undertaking numerous programmes such as the reintroduction of the free education policy which had seen over two million children enrolled back into school.
President Hichilema has however noted that publicity of government’s developmental programmes, especially to Zambians at the grassroots had been insufficient. President Hichilema has since challenged senior government officials to utilise not only the state media such as the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) and Times of Zambia, but also private and community media to highlight government programmes.
The Head of State said this during the launch of the Public Sector Strategic Communication Training for Senior Government Officials in Lusaka.
President Hichilema has reiterated the government’s efforts to revive the economy, among them the debt restructuring deal as well as the reopening of mines, some of which had been dysfunctional for almost 50 years.
“Had we did not had our debt restructured, the entire 2025 budget would have been used to service the debt. Now we are able to deliver clean water, bursaries and much more that our people should know,” President Hichilema said.
