HOME AFFAIRS MINISTER INCONSISTENT AND INCOMPETENT-COSMO MUMBA

National Revolution Party (NRP) President Cosmo Mumba says the Minister of Home Affairs Jack Mwiimbu is inconsistent and incompetent for misleading the Nation in the Case involving Partake Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda.

Addressing the media in Lusaka on 20th November 2024, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu said Mr Banda who escaped from lawful custody in august this year was apprehended on the morning of 19th November 2024 and that government iwas working with the authorities in Zimbabwe to extradite Mr. Banda back to Zambia.
Mr. Mwiimbu also clarified claims by the opposition Patriotic Front that Mr Banda did not surrender himself to authorities in an attempt to avoid losing his parliamentary seat, following a seven-day ultimatum given by National Assembly Speaker Nelly Mutti.

However, Zimbabwe National Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi a Zambian Based Media House that the police had no information regarding the arrest of the Petauke lawmaker. Mr Nyathi said the police had not received any reports about Banda being in their custody and that there had never been communication between the Zambia Police and the Zimbabwe police over the alleged arrest of the Petauke MP.

Following the turn of events Stake holders including Cosmo Mumba have labelled the Zambian Home Affairs Minister Incompetent, stating that it is shameful for a whole minister to go on National Television and misinform the Nation, says the minister should hold another press briefing telling the nation and apologise for the mis-information that JJ was indeed arrested when in fact not.

Mr Mumba further stated that NRP has effectively resigned from the UKA alliance and has joined the Edgar Lungu Led Tonse Alliance because the UKA alliance is infested with confusion from people such as the National Democratic Congress Party (NDC) leader Saboi Mboela and that NRP will rally behind the Kawambwa parliamentary candidate Dunstan Mwansa of the National Congress Party (NCP) led by Peter Chanda.
