Now Chabinga, Ng’ona face jail Öfor disobeying the High Court order, restraining the duo from masquerading as PF president and purporting to be discharging functions as leaders of the former ruling party

ROBERT Chabinga, his cohort, Morgan Ng’ona and the Registrar of Societies are now facing the risk of getting arrested and jailed for disobeying court orders, restraining them to continue masquerading as Patriotic Front (PF) president and making statements purporting to be the leader of the former ruling party.
The Lusaka High Court on Friday ordered Mr Chabinga to immediately stop masquerading as the president or acting president of the PF as well as purporting to discharge any functions as president of the former ruling party.

But Mr Chabinga consciously disobeyed the court order restraining him from masquerading as the PF president and proceeded to hold a media briefing at which he purported that he expelled Zambia’s Sixth President Edgar Lungu, Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa, Given Lubinda, Raphael Nakacinda and Emmanuel Mwamba from the former ruling party
The Lusaka High Court has also banned Mr Chabinga from issuing statements or making public appearances and conducting activities in his purported capacity of the president of the PF on media platforms.
The High Court further ordered Mr Chabinga to desist from appearing on media houses such as Diamond TV, Crown TV, Mellennium TV, Kalemba or any other media outlet through which he would be suggesting authority within the PF leadership.

And now, Mr Sampa, has sought leave of court to commence contempt of court proceedings against Mr Chabinga, Mr Ng’ona, and the Registrar of Societies.
This action comes after Mr Chabinga purported that he had expelled former President Lungu, Mr Sampa, and other top party officials for alleged gross indiscipline.
Mr Ng’ona, the purported secretary general of the PF also disregarded the court directive by referring to Mr Chabinga as the acting president or president of the PF during the press briefing.
Mr Sampa stated that the Registrar of Societies amended the official records of the PF leadership, removing him (Mr Sampa) as party president and recognising Mr Chabinga in a leadership role.
Mr Sampa is contending that the actions of Mr Chabinga, Mr Ng’ona, and the Registrar of Societies constituted a deliberate breach of the court’s order and display a wilful disregard for the court’s authority.
And in a short text message yesterday, Mr Sampa said Zambians should be governed by the rule of law and not the rule of lawlessness or by the whims and caprices of individuals.
“Given that the Constitution of Zambia says it must be governed by ‘the rule of law and not the rule of lawlessness, this morning (yesterday), our lawyers have filed documents into the High Court of Zambia for the attention of Judge Conceptor Zulu seeking contempt of court proceedings against, Robert Chabinga, Morgan Ngona and the Registrar of Socities,” Mr Sampa said.
“When and if rulings from courts or active court cases start to be ignored for political expediency, then we will be doomed as a nation. At no time should any one citizen of Zambia be above the law. I will not be an accomplice to such substandard abuse or disrespect of the courts and will fight such misconduct to the very end and by all means necessary,” he said.
