UNITED opposition remains the only sure way of unseating the UPND government and a path to restoring democracy and the rule of law, which have severely come under threat, the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) has said.State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota, the UKA chairperson has reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to remain intact and participate in the 2026 general elections despite some of its alliance partners leaving to join other alliances.(To Page 3)From page 1“We are of the firm belief that a united opposition is the only sure way to unseat this incompetent government and restore the country to the path of economic recovery and prosperity,” Mr Sikota said.
Mr Sikota said UKA was formed based on the demands of the majority Zambians, who are dissatisfied and disillusioned with the UPND government’s failure to address economic challenges and fulfil its mega promises. He has since assured Zambians that UKA shall remain committed to its mission, core values, and beliefs on which it was founded and would continue to mobilise itself in readiness for the 2026 general election.
Mr. Sikota said UKA would continue existing as a people’s movement and would continue to push on with mobilising members across the country. He said that the alliance would continue to position itself as a credible alternative government to the UPND, which had failed the Zambians and reneged on its key promises to reduce the price of mealie-meal to K50 and petrol to K12 per litre as well as reducing the general cost of living.
