TotalEnergies empowers Zambian innovators

TOTALENEGIES has empowered three youths who took part in the Startupper Challenge of the year with K185 500 each.
Speaking at the event Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Elias Mubanga commended TotalEnergies for its dedication to supporting young Zambian entrepreneurs through funding and mentorship.
Mr Mubanga said the initiative aligns well governments efforts to development SMEs because they were the backbone of the economy.
Mr Mubanga underscored the essential role of youth innovation in fostering Zambia’s economic growth.
Among the celebrated projects was Jane Akasamo’s GreenBot Energy, a start-up turning waste into biogas and organic fertilizer who took part in last year’s challenge.
Supported by TotalEnergies, Akasamo’s venture has positively impacted over 100 farmers and led to the construction of biodigesters, addressing key challenges in waste management and agriculture.
And Speaking at the same event, Ms. Salamata Ball, Total energies Zambia Managing Director commended the finalists for their commitment to tackling real-world issues.
The three winners were awarded K185, 500 each with expert coaching, an all-expenses-paid learning expedition to South Africa, and media exposure to broaden their Impact.
The recognition of young entrepreneurs underscores the value of public-private partnerships in building a sustainable and innovative future for Zambia.
Among the winner was Muyunda Kaonga who won in the Psycho App category, Mulwabo Mwanamwenda who won in the Innovation app category and Niza Zulu who won in the Power App category.
