ZAMBIA FEAST OVER LESOTHO

THE Young Copper Queens made a resounding statement in their opening match of the COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship, demolishing Lesotho 9-0 in a one-sided encounter.
From the first whistle, Zambia dominated the match, with goals coming thick and fast. Lubasi Pumulo was quick off the mark, netting twice in the 11th and 12th minutes, putting the Young Copper Queens firmly in control.
Just minutes later, Saliya Mwanza added a third in the 14th minute, leaving Lesotho reeling.
Zambia continued to press relentlessly and in the 27th minute, Bwalya Namute Chileshe extended the lead with a well-taken goal.
The attacking juggernaut showed no signs of slowing down, and just before the halftime whistle, Mary Mbewe added a fifth in the 37th minute, leaving Lesotho with a mountain to climb.
After the break, Zambia picked up where they left off. Ruth Muwowo was the next to get her name on the scoresheet, scoring twice in quick succession – first in the 65th minute and then again in the 86th. With the game nearing its conclusion, Jessy Zulu completed the rout, scoring the ninth goal in the 89th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for Zambia.
