Zambia women’s rugby team finishes 6th at Rugby Africa Women’s 7s

THE Zambia Women’s Rugby Team wrapped up their campaign at the 2024 Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Tournament in Accra, Ghana, finishing in 6th place after a 12-5 loss to Tunisia in the 5th place final.
Zambia began the tournament in Pool C with a solid 10-5 victory over Senegal, followed by a dominant 43-7 win over Ivory Coast. However, their final pool match against Uganda saw them suffer a 31-7 defeat.
With two wins and one loss, Zambia advanced to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, the Zambian side faced Madagascar, and despite a strong performance, were narrowly beaten 19-12, missing out on a semifinal spot.
This sent them into the ranking phase of the competition.
Zambia bounced back in the 5th place semifinal, securing a convincing 31-7 victory over Senegal to earn a shot at 5th place. However, Tunisia proved too strong in the final, edging out Zambia 12-5.
Defending champions South Africa retained their title, defeating Kenya in the final. South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda also secured spots in the 2025 Challenger Series.
