ECL, Esther attend court session for Elijah, Ernest in show of solidarity

FORMER President Edgar Lungu and his wife Esther yesterday took time to attend the court session for Elijah and Ernest Kaumba, the two young brothers who had been detained at Lusaka’s Ridgeway Police Station for 60 days without trial for allegedly defaming President Hakainde Hichilema.
The two brothers who, were arrested on October 3, 2025 in Kalulushi and were transported to Lusaka have finally been granted bail after pressure mounted on the State for the release.
Elijah and Ernest had attracted the attention of several sympathisers, including Lusaka Catholic Church Archbishop Dr Alick Banda and Sishuwa Sishuwa, who alerted the international community including the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC), Amnesty International and the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Zambia among others.
Former President Lungu had to instruct his lawyers to provide free legal service to Elijah and his brother Ernest after which they were granted bond after Makebi Zulu applied for CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
