Let’s continue making Zambia a Christian Nation a reality, says Kitwe Mayor Mpasa

By ROGERS KALERO

KITWE has recorded more than 20 Christmas babies with Mayor Mpasa Mwaya urging parents to speak blessings and good morals to their children so that the declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation continued to be a reality despite the many challenges the country was facing

Ms Mwaya said children are future leaders and it is imperative that parents speak blessings about them and nurture them to become responsible and God-fearing adults who will ultimately become good leaders.

Ms Mwaya started the donation of Christmas presents at Ukwashi Wanzambi orphanage where she donated assorted goods which included mealie mealie worth more than K40,000 before she gave out more than 20 hampers to Christmas babies at Buchi, Itimpi and Chimwemwe maternity clinics,

She said Christmas was time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christmas and give out to new born babies and the vulnerable in society who deserved love and care

“As Mayor of the city, am the mother of the city and so I feel proud that during this time of the year, we are able to share the little we have. As a local authority, in our small and humble way, we give out Christmas presents to our new born babies and to the vulnerable in society,” Ms Mpasa said.

“To the parents of the new born babies, I must urge them to speak blessings and good morals to their children. The upbringing of children plays a vital role in the character of a child. Parents must speak blessings about their children and nurture them to become responsible and God-fearing adults who will ultimately become good leaders to take the country to greater heights,” she said

Meanwhile, Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo’s wife Samantha has said parents should take time to nurture and pray for their offspring because children were a blessing from God

Ms Matambo, who was speaking when she donated hampers to children born on Christmas day at Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) yesterday, said she was making the donation on behalf of the First Lady Mutinta Hichilema

“We now have free education in the country and there is no reason to keep the children at home .Children are a gift and blessing from God. You have to ensure that you look after them properly and take them to school so that they are not exposed to bad vices,” she said
