By BARNABAS ZULU
ZAMBIAN striker Kingstone Mutandwa was the star of the show for Cagliari’s U-20 side as he scored a brilliant brace in their 2-0 victory over Fiorentina in a highly anticipated Primavera 1 encounter.
Mutandwa’s goals came in a strong performance that saw him play the full 90 minutes. His impressive finishing was pivotal in ensuring Cagliari secured all three points.
The match was a significant one for Cagliari, as they faced a tough Fiorentina team. Mutandwa’s first goal came early in the game, giving Cagliari the lead.
His second strike came in the second half, as he calmly slotted the ball past the Fiorentina goalkeeper to seal the win.
The brace not only extended Cagliari’s unbeaten run but also solidified Mutandwa’s growing reputation as one of the brightest talents in the Primavera 1 league.
Alongside Mutandwa, Zambian midfielder Joseph Liteta played a crucial role in the midfield, contributing to his team’s success. Liteta, who has been a consistent performer for Cagliari, put in a solid shift, playing 86 minutes and showcasing his vision and technical ability. His presence in the middle of the park helped control the tempo of the match, and his defensive efforts were key to keeping Fiorentina at bay.
In another part of the world, Zambian international Fashion Sakala was also in fine form for his club, Al Feiha, in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.
Sakala scored the only goal of the match in the 19th minute as Al Feiha defeated Al Wehda 1-0. Sakala’s goal came after a well-timed run into the box, where he latched onto a cross to score with a powerful header, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The win was vital for Al Feiha, who had been struggling to find consistency this season.
