NIPA, Levy Mwanawasa students

THE University of Zambia (UNZA), Levy Mwanawasa Medical University and the National Institute of Public Administration Student Union Students Unions have denied ever being part of the students who were dispersed by the Zambia Police at Crest Lodge in Lusaka where they wanted to meet former President Edgar Lungu.
University of Zambia Students’ Union publicity secretary Gift Ngosa said the union’s mission remains to serve students without aligning itself with any political organisation or agenda.
And Levy Mwanawasa Medical University Students Union publicity secretary Patrick Mulenga said the union maintains a neutral stance and has no affiliation with any political entity or organisation. Meanwhile, National Institute of Public Administration Student Union information and publicity secretary, Dorothy Matyola said NIPA has no association or involvement with the recent PF Student National League or any political activities of all political parties, including the PF. She said NIPA was mentioned in connection with the PF Youth Conference, but that was done without the prior consent or involvement of the union Ms. Matyola emphasised that they do not support or endorse any political party or engage in political affairs, as they remain a neutral entity focused on academic affairs. “We request that all political parties, including PF, refrain from using our name or associating us with their political events or agendas without our explicit consent,” she said.
She urged all political parties to cooperate to ensure that NIPA was not included in any future political activities unless they explicitly express their interest.
On Thursday the police raided Crest Lodge and dispersed the conference of youths from different universities and colleges who were slated to meet Mr Lungu.
