as the ECZ sets February 6 as the date for
a by-election for Pambashe
Constituency following the sentencing of Ronald Chitotela to
10 years imprisonment with hard labour for arson

THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced February 6, 2025, as the date for the National Assembly by-election in Pambashe, Kawambwa.
Voting will take place between 06:00 hours and 18:00 hours on the same day.
According to a statement released by the ECZ, the by-election followed the conviction of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr. Ronald Chitotela of the Patriotic Front (PF), and the subsequent declaration of a vacancy in the parliamentary seat by the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Nomination day for aspiring candidates has been set for January 7, 2025, with submissions to be made between 09:00 hours and 15:00 hours.
The ECZ said candidates were required to present completed statutory declarations and nomination papers attested by an authorised official, including magistrates, local court magistrates, or other designated officials.
The campaign period for the by-election, the statement said will officially commence on January 8, 2025, and end at 18:00 hours on February 5, 2025.
The aspiring candidates would need to pay a non-refundable nomination fee, as stipulated by the ECZ.
