UPND using gov’t progs to induce voters in Kawambwa – TI-Z

TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TI-Z) has raised a red flag against the UPND for allegedly engaging in electoral malpractices in the Kawambwa Parliamentary by-election, accusing the governing party of using government programmes to influence voters.
TI-Z executive director Maurice Nyambe says senior UPND party officials and public servants are reportedly distributing K50 cash and various gifts to voters under the guise of empowerment initiatives, such as fertiliser distribution and other state programmes.
