UPND warns opposition against propaganda ahead of Petauke by-election

THE ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) has cautioned the opposition against using propaganda in the upcoming Petauke by-election, warning it could inflame tensions in the country.

The Petauke Central Constituency is set to hold a by-election on February 6, 2024, to replace fugitive Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Banda whose seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of the National Assembly following his prolonged absence.

UPND deputy national youth chairperson, Trevor Mwiinde has urged the opposition to refrain from employing propaganda tactics, as seen in Kawambwa, and instead focus on campaigning for their candidates.

Mr. Mwiinde has emphasised that the ruling party will not be deterred by opposition plans to field a single candidate, but will instead appeal to grassroots supporters through effective ground campaigns.
