Zambia not ready to implement AI, says Academician

ACADEMICIAN, Francis Chikweto says Zambia is not ready to implement the Artificial Intelligence (AI) services citing ethics and infrastructural challenges.
Professor Chikweto said in order to embrace AI, there are a lot of factors to consider, as an investment should yield results.
He said introducing AI in health is a big mile stone to be excited about, but when ethics came in place it is worrisome.
He added that there is need to review it if the regulatory framework on technicalities are suitable, and if there is any ethical framework in place.
Prof Chikweto said in order to be completely ready, there is need to ensure that the supporting factors are put in place, which includes stable energy and infrastructure to accommodate the servers.
The academician stated that Zambia currently has no enough infrastructure to ensure the program is successful.
Prof Chikweto said it is prudent that the government and the private sector come on board and ensure that the requirements for the program to succeed are put in place.
