2024 was a hard year for Zambians – FODEP

THE year 2024 tested the resilience of Zambians like never before, particularly in the face of an unprecedented drought that had impacted key sectors of the country’s economy, Mwenda Mumbuna, president of the Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has said.

Mr Mumbuna said while FODEP commended the government for its swift actions in declaring the drought a national disaster and exploring urgent measures to address the power deficit, it also noted the profound ongoing challenges that faced most Zambians on a daily basis.

“The agriculture and energy sectors have been severely affected, leading to widespread economic and job losses, particularly in the informal sector, which relies heavily on electricity.
