Government’s public sector import spending to rise

A SECOND consecutive drought expected this year, on materialisation, is likely to keep public sector import spending elevated while also undermining non-traditional exports as observed in 2024.
In 2025, an added risk is emerging indicating that the rainfall pattern may not normalise as initially projected.
