Women in mining call for more local participation

THE Local Content Statutory Instrument will operationalise local content development in the Geological Minerals Development Bill which according to Namakau Kaingu has so far empowered villagers to participate in mining.
Ms Kaingu, the Association of Zambian Women in Mining president is elated with both the Bill and the Statutory Instrument (SI) saying the law will encourage Zambians, especially women to fully participate in mining with full benefits.
She said in an interview yesterday that Zambians should fully be involved in the country’s mining activities as the minerals, including the sun, water and grass belonged to them.
