Corruption, favouritism mar selection of TAZAMA bids

A CORRUPTION scandal in the procurement of petroleum products through TAZAMA Pipeline has been exposed where a company that has allegedly failed the test of capacity to deliver is being favoured by some high-ranking government officials.
While Government has finally opened up TAZAMA Pipeline to competitiveness, the selection of the companies through open tenders has been highly compromised by corruption and pure favourism, to the extent that the principle of “time is of essence” has completely been breached.
