Parley advised to reject proposal to abolish by-elections

THE Zambian Civil Liberties Union (ZCLU) has called on Members of Parliament and the government to firmly reject the proposal to abolish by-elections should the Electoral Reform Technical Committee (ERTC) report be tabled for action.
Isaac Mwanza, the ZCLU executive director says the recommendations of the ERTC – drawn from a narrow pool of public submissions are lacking the legitimacy to unilaterally impose such a transformative constitutional amendments and changes.
