UPND fires East leadership

THE ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) has, with immediate effect, dissolved its Eastern Province Committee following a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Tonse Alliance in the recent Petauke elections.
Tonse Alliance candidate Simon Banda, representing the New Congress Party (NCP), defeated UPND’s Severian Lungu by over 2,000 votes to win the seat.
