KAMANGA TUMBLES

IN a closely contested election, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Andrew Kamanga, narrowly missed out on securing a seat on the FIFA Council during the Confederation of African Football (CAF) elections held in Cairo.
Kamanga, who was one of 10 candidates vying for the prestigious position, finished in seventh place, receiving just 19 votes. Moroccan FA President, Fouzi Lekjaa, emerged as the winner with 49 votes, followed by Egypt’s Hani Abou Rida and Niger’s Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, both of whom secured 35 votes. Other winners included Ahmed Yahya from Mauritania (29 votes) and Souleiman Waberi from Djibouti (29 votes).
